Masalo^® cuff on prescription

Unfortunately getting the Masalo Cuff on prescription via the NHS or else is the individual decision of the competent authorities.

Please note that you can only redeem a prescription in specialized stores and not directly with us!

Do I have to make a co-payment?

Even after presenting a prescription, you will have to pay a co-payment at the specialist dealer, which is usually significantly higher than the conventional prescription fee.
Please inquire about this amount BEFORE you visit your doctor and BEFORE you order directly from your retailer.

How do I get the cuff with prescription?

Please start by downloading the “Information sheet on cost sharing” and printing it out.

This sheet is intended for both specialist  retailers and your treating doctor. The documents are in German but it will be the only way the merchant and your doctor understands the process clearly.

Here is the step-by-step procedure:

1. Find out in advance:
Please clarify any questions regarding cost coverage and co-payments with a specialist retailer before you visit your doctor or place an order.

2. Choose a specialist retailer:
You can find partners who stock our Masalo Cuff MED in our retailer directory.
In principle, however, any medical supply shop (“Sanitätshaus”) or specialist medical retailer can order the product from us.

Note on choosing a retailer:
As the Masalo Cuff MED works on a unique principle and must be fitted precisely, we place the utmost importance on professional advice. We endeavour to offer our customers only trained specialist retailers and reserve the right not to supply, or to cease supplying, unsuitable or untrained partners.

3. Contacting a retailer:
Please ask the specialist retailer to contact us briefly by email (shop@masalo.eu).
They will then immediately receive all the relevant retailer information and purchasing terms, and will be able to tell you the exact co-payment amount you will need to pay. 

4. Obtaining a prescription from your doctor:
You will need a prescription to claim the health insurance contribution. Please also show the doctor the printed information sheet. 

• Who can issue a prescription? Both orthopaedic specialists and GPs can issue a prescription for the Masalo Cuff MED.
• Good to know: As this involves a novel mechanism of action, some doctors may be initially cautious – however, doctors who take a moment to familiarise themselves with how it works are usually very happy to issue the prescription.

• Restriction for those with statutory health insurance: If you have recently obtained another medical aid for epicondylitis (bandage, brace) through your statutory health insurance, a repeat prescription within the same period may be refused under certain circumstances

I am privately insured – what do I have to consider?

Up to now, all privately insured persons have simply visited our Onlineshop and then simply submitted the prescription together with our invoice – possibly also with the payment receipt – during the regular billing process with their private insurance.

However, please do not order the cuff until you already have the prescription in your hands.

We have no feedback to date that there was ever a rejection. To be on the safe side, you can make a brief inquiry with your insurance company beforehand. Please include the HMV/aid number 23.08.04.0042 everywhere.

What is the aid number (HMV number) of the Masalo Cuff?

The Masalo Cuff is a medical device according to Regulation 2017/745/EU and has the following aid number/HMV number of the GKV in Germany:
